Second edition of Szczecin Jazz 2017. Premieres, “Polish Jazz Gala” and Wynton Marsalis.
The Festival will be opened by trumpeter Keyon Harrold, a rising star of American jazz who has toured with or produced for some of the world’s best artists and ensembles, such as Jay-Z, Common, Gregory Porter. He has also featured as the trumpet sound in the Miles Davies biopic “Miles Ahead”. The Festival will come to a close with “Polish Jazz Gala” featuring Agnieszka Wilczynska with Henryk Miskiewicz and Andrzej Jagodzinski. Moreover, two amazing jazz piano players will present their latest albums: Jan Lundgren (Sweden) – his “Potsdamer Platz” and Matthew Shipp (U.S.A.) - “Piano Song”. The young Polish jazz scene will be represented by a duo from Wroclaw: Magda Zawartko/Krzysztof Piasecki, supported by trumpeter Piotr Damasiewicz and saxophonist Tomasz Wendt.
Szczecin Jazz is more than festival concerts. It also features a range of other artistic events that promote jazz music. And so, kids and teenagers will have the opportunity to participate in music workshops conducted by Grzegorz Turnau, and the best – or the most ardent – fan of jazz will be rewarded with Kevin Mahogany private performance – a “Home party with a star”.
The treat of the Festival will, no doubt, be the concert of Wynton Marsalis with Lincoln Jazz Center Orchestra and the NFM Wroclaw Philharmonic. The concert will be preceded by master music workshops conducted by Wynton Marsalis, and supported by the National Music Forum from Wroclaw.
Szczecin Jazz Festival is produced by the Szczecin Artistic Agency and curated by saxophonist Sylwester Ostrowski. The Festival will be on from 28th February to 12th March 2017.
Special concert: Wynton Marsalis, Lincoln Jazz Center Orchestra and NFM Wroclaw Philharmonic will be held on 15th June 2016.
