AMERICA – Tradition and Modernity – is the slogan of the third edition of Szczecin Jazz 2018.
Szczecin Jazz is an international music festival which features many accompanying events that promote jazz music. The 2018 programme is built around tradition and the most recent trends in jazz music. The festival spans from 26 February to 9 April 2018, and the organizers promise that it will be more than “just” a festival of stars. Anyway, it won’t be short of big names! This year’s list of artists includes: Bobby Watson, saxophonist and the king of swing from Kansas City, Vincent Herring, saxophonist, and Canadian singer, Gino Vannelli, the icon of jazz-pop.
The concerts of Wallace Roney, Miles Davis’ anointed successor, and “Szczecin Jazz – Detroit Techno” will give us a chance to explore the recent trends in jazz music. We will also listen to Polish Jazz played by artists of the young generation.
The Festival is also the result of collaboration between Szczecin Jazz Festival and American Jazz Museum located in Kansas City.
The concert "From Kansas City with love" will feature Bobby Watson, the jazz giant from Kansas City, and some rising young artists recommended by American Jazz Museum. Besides, in 2018 both institutions will embark on an educational collaboration project as part of the projects led by the Kansas City Jazz Academy and “Jazz for Kids”.
Szczecin Jazz also features socially engaged events such as “Jazz comes to you”, which are a good proof that jazz is meant for everyone and can be enjoyed everywhere.
Anywhere you are … on a tram, at home, in a church, in a kindergarten … Be with us!
